Incognito Reloads Reveal Google Drops Blue Links to 8 and Blinds Rank Trackers

Google tracks user sessions across incognito reloads to alternate SERP layouts between initial and returning impressions, observes Ted Kubaitis.

First-time queries trigger distinct expansive ad formats, 10 blue links, and standard Local Packs.

However, secondary refreshes within the same session permanently switch the browser to an alternate presentation format.

The system drops the page to 8 blue links, alters ad positioning, and replaces Local Packs with Places listings.

The subsequent layouts also introduce or remove AI Overviews based on the returning state.

Separately, this multi-layout logic corrupts rank tracking accuracy.

Tracking tools fail to report these ranking variations because they do not maintain session state.

Scrapers pull only the initial impression context, blinding them to the alternate SERP variations served to returning users.
